Designing Race Car Graphics
February 14, 2014

If you are fan of racing or if you are participating in amateur races, then you are probably wishing you can get the same graphics professional race cars normally sport for your vehicle: the huge stylized numbers at the top and on the sides, the numerous logos from various sponsors, and all sorts of other cool graphics.
Fortunately, there is a way for you to have them. Race car graphics can now be easily created through vinyl decals. If you have some mad adobe photoshop skills, you can design the graphics yourself, if not, let the professionals do it for you. There are several car graphic printers and car wraps and decal manufacturers whose services you can enlist to create race car graphics for your vehicle.
Start by taking measurements of each car graphic that you wish to have. Then, proceed to taking accurate measurements of each part of your vehicle. If you are entering a racing competition, make sure to have allowances for other car graphics or vinyl decals that the sanctioning body of the competition may require.
Next, it is time to put your design skills to the test. Choose any design software that you are familiar with and let yourself loose. Some design softwares that you could use include Adobe Photoshop, In Design, Adobe Illustrator or other similar design software. If you do not trust your level of expertise yet, it may be wise to hire a professional designer. Some car graphic printers and car wrap and decal manufacturers have in-house designers that can create your desired race car graphics for you. More often than not, graphic design is part of a whole package.
If you will be carrying the brand logo of a sponsor, make sure that you get the file in the right format. The most commonly used image format for printing large car graphics are vector files. You should still check with your printer though regarding their required image format. Also make sure that the logo is large enough to be printed in the size that you want so that your race car graphics will come out clear and of high quality.
When the design of your car graphics is finished, you can send them to a car graphics printer that has all the necessary equipment and man power to produce large, high quality race car graphics for your vehicle. Car graphic printers and car wrap and decal manufacturers usually use vinyl to print graphics on. They are affordable yet sturdy and easy to apply. High quality vinyl car graphics can last up to 5 years and will not easily stretch or tear.
Once your car graphics are printed, it is now time to apply them to your vehicle. Before you apply them, make sure that the surface of your vehicle is clean. Next, remove the back of the vinyl which protects the adhesive. Set your car graphics in place. Use a squeegee to make sure there are no bubbles or raised areas. Let it sit for a while to make sure it is dry then carefully remove the protective sheet.
