For quite some time now, we’ve been talking about everything under the sun that has to do with vehicle wraps. However, today I’d like to talk about something slightly off-topic. Most of our ADI clients use car wraps for advertising, and they typically make sure that their mobile ads reach the target market in two ways:

  • They have someone drive around their graphic-wrapped vehicle in select routes.
  • They have their graphic-wrapped vehicle parked in strategic locations.

Now, some of you may have leased or even purchased parking spaces for mobile advertising. As long as it’s strategically located, I think you’ve a good investment there. But what I really want to ask you is if you’ve considered offering your parking space for rent when it’s not in use. This will likely happen if your graphic-wrapped vehicle also happens to be your delivery car or you also prefer to have it driven around town during peak hours.

Parking space rentals don’t come cheap. In fact, they can even be quite lucrative in high-profile locations, for which you can easily earn hundreds of dollars every week.

How Do I Get Started?

There are several ways for you to start advertising about your parking space rental.

Paid Ads Online

Just search online for ‘parking space rental’ and you’ll immediately come across a number of websites that are entirely devoted to offering listings for parking space rental. You can add a location to your keyword (ex: parking space rental Los Angeles) if you want to narrow search results to your current area.

While this strategy will obviously cost you, it also typically offers better targeted exposure for your parking space rental. Such websites also often offer additional features and services to make it easier for you and other parties to transact online.

Free Ads Online

The main disadvantage in relying on free ads online is that you’ll have to do most of the marketing work on your own. You won’t be prompted for what to write. Instead, you’ll need to come up with your own ad from scratch.

In any case, if this is the strategy you prefer then here are several tips to help you write an effective ad copy for your parking space rental.

Tip #1: The title of your ad must include the following information:

  • Location (e.g. name of city or town, nearby landmarks)
  • Size of parking space – This will help determine what kind of vehicle it can accommodate
  • Price – If you do mention the price in your ad, make sure to specify as well whether it’s negotiable or fixed.

Tip #2: The body of your ad should provide all the necessary details in bullet form for quick reading.

  • Availability – Can it only be rented during certain hours of the day or during weekends?
  • Benefits – What makes it ideal for mobile advertising? Can you give examples of the kind of target markets available in the area?
  • Contact details – Let them know when they can expect to hear from you.

Tip #3: Include photos in your ads so that interested parties can more easily envision what kind of exposure they’d be getting if they do rent out your parking space.

Lastly, print out a copy of your advertisement. Tape it to your graphic-wrapped vehicle when it’s stationed at the very parking lot you’re offering for rent. This way, people would also get to see your ads “at work”…and consequently imagine how their ads would work if their own car was parked in your lot.
