How to Make the Most Out of Your Vehicle Wrap
January 10, 2014

Vehicle wraps don’t necessarily cost a fortune – but they don’t come in cheap either. This is one of the reasons why it isn’t necessary that you hire a team of designers and copywriters. Taking a free tip or two is going to help you keep costs down. However, there is the ever present danger of a vehicle wrap going fifty shades of wrong that’s why we’ve gathered a few words of wisdom so you’d have an amazing vehicle wrap in your hands.
Simply Striking
If you want your vehicle to be striking and stand out, keep it simple. Like a lot of things in life, when it comes to car wraps, simplicity is key. Remember that you only got a few seconds to catch the attention of a prospective client. If he or she needs to decipher the message or to figure out the font, forget about it. Large and simple texts plus bright colors are all that you really need to attract prospective clients.
Stand Out – The Proper Way!
Some companies resort to dirty puns or visual trickeries that only leave the prospective client dazed and confused. Although a visual trick is a great way to catch attention, if it’s not going to help you rake in the bucks, you better leave it to the trash bin.
A Picture DOES NOT Paint A Thousand Words
This is one of those rare instances wherein a photo is an unnecessary accessory. For example, if you are a company that does cleaning services, you do not need to incorporate a photo of your best cleaning project to date. All you need is a logo or a brand identity, important details (includes location and telephone numbers), and maybe a catchy slogan or two. Add more details and it could be a tricky downward slope from there. However, there are specific companies or business that insist on visuals. The thing is, car wraps aren’t always a great stage for images. You can always rely on flyers, brochures, and websites to post your images. This is a bit controversial but according to statistics, when it comes to moving outdoor advertising, you don’t have enough time to let the audience soak in the imagery. However, if the image is a part of your creative marketing campaign, then by all means, have it put on the vehicle.
Do Not Exceed the Magical Four Numbers!
Going back to important details, you only need 4 details on your wrap: brand/identity, tagline, telephone number/email address/website, and location. If you feel the need to add a list or a whole paragraph in your wrap design, forget about it! Remember that you will only get a few seconds, a minute at most, to get the message across.
Prep Before Application
Lastly, you need to prep your vehicle before the actual wrap application to ensure that the whole process is a success – not just the design but the application itself. If you want your wrap to last or look nice and smooth, you need to follow a few simple steps to ensure excellent quality. If the vehicle has any rust spots, that obviously needs to be repaired. If you do not wish to repaint, sanding the rusted areas will ensure that the vinyl sticks and does its job of covering the blemishes. Have your car washed a day before the application to make sure that the vinyl will stick easily. And resist the urge to have it waxed, as this will make it hard for the vinyl to stick properly.
