The votes are in: when it comes to car wraps, the simpler designs will always trump over crazy, cluttered wraps. One of the main reasons why a wrap should stick to the basics is because a vehicle wrap will only get a few seconds of “airing time”. Sometimes, you don’t even get the usual 30 seconds because let’s face it – vehicle wraps are a mobile way of advertising. There are pros and cons, with the major con being that you have to squeeze in so much information in such a small amount of time (and maybe space as well, if you don’t own a fleet of trucks).

Arete Digital Imaging has an in-house design team to help you with the design process. However, if you have a specific output in mind and would like to be more hands on with the design process, here are a few tips to get you started with de-cluttering and getting the most important ideas onto your vehicle wrap of choice.

1. Do Your Research

By research, we mean you have to look at a few vehicle wraps both online and in real life. Take notes. Figure out the design elements that get your attention and most especially the design elements that only serve to annoy or get the least amount of attention. Check out designs that would cater to your own set of clients and get some feedback from different kinds of people if necessary. To note, popular vehicle wraps nowadays include those who utilize 3D designs and optical illusions.

2. Choose the Specifics

The most important is of course the logo (or brand). Next is how or where to reach you (it could be a physical/email address, a website, or telephone numbers). You could choose to add other details but never ever add your list of services or even accomplishments. This would distract viewers from the main information and would only prove to be confusing to the eye. After all, you can only process so much information in a blink of an eye.

3. Create the Design

Lastly, you can either create the design by hand using a pen and paper or in your software of choice like Adobe Illustrator. There are online sources of free car templates that you can use to determine what would look good and which design idea should just be left in the bin. Although there are online sources of templates all over the web, it could prove to be tricky to put the actual design onto your vehicle of choice. Not to mention that there are only a limited number of car templates to choose from.

At the end of the day, if you have more important things to do, the professional in-house design team of Arete Digital Imaging can surely create different designs that would suit you and your company’s needs.
