Useful Tips to Remember When Designing Your Retractable Banner

Banner Printing Service

If you’re thinking which among the many different banner printing services you must avail of, you can choose retractable banners. Retractable banners are one of the most widely used banner displays since they can promote your business and services well. They’re very convenient and efficient. You can bring and use them anywhere, for trade shows, exhibits, conferences, corporate functions, business meetings, seminars, conventions, parties, and more. They can be propped, disassembled, and stored easily. They’re very handy, portable, and usable all year round

Retractable banners are indeed great to have but in order for them to work, their design must be effective. You can’t just create these banners just for the sake of having them. You must work with your supplier of banner printing services to achieve a design that’s both attractive and compelling for the public, especially for your target market. Here are some useful tips you must remember in designing your retractable banners:

  • Standard banner sizes fall between 33.5″x80″ and 48″x79″. Choose from any of these sizes depending on your needs. But if you want something that’s visible even from afar, go for larger dimensions.

  • Margin size should be at least 2 inches from either the left or right side, 2.5 to 3.5 inches from the top, and 3 to 4 inches from the bottom. If you want a design with bleed or one without margins (image extends to the edge of the paper or vinyl), that’s fine too. That’s actually a good idea since you’re using every inch of the material.

  • Use fonts that are simple yet clear and very readable like Arial and other non-Serif fonts.

Images should have a resolution of about 150 to 180 dpi (dots per inch). Avoid using small images then enlarging it to occupy the space as they’d turn out blurry or pixelated. Then again, stay away from images that have resolutions at 300 dpi and above. If you’re going to use images with 300 dpiresolution, better downgrade them to 150 to 180 dpi.

  • For logos that have your company or business name, use vector files instead. Vector files don’tpixelize or blur even when blown up to a much larger size. Furthermore, set the logo resolution at 300 or 450 dpi.

  • When adding text to the design, use vector-editing software like Illustrator or Corel. If you’re only using Photoshop, set the resolution to at least 300 dpi or higher to guarantee a crisp and sharp output.

  • Use CMYK instead of RGB for color space. Unlike RGB, CMYK gives you a more exact preview through your monitor of what will actually be printed on paper or on vinyl. If you don’t know how to transform RGB to CMYK, a professional graphic artist can do it for you. If you don’t know one, the in-house artists your banner printing services Los Angeles provider has will do it for you.

  • File format types should be .eps or .ai when created in Illustrator or a vector file. If there are raster images present, files should be saved as .pdf or .tiff. If you’re saving a file in .tiff format however, make sure that the design has been created at a high resolution (images at 150 dpi and texts at 300 dpi).
